| Mega Monsters Follow Barbie’s Lead |
| This past December we saw the glitz and glam of pink-filled, Barbie with ASL. Following suit, Warner Bros. Discovery / Max (HBO) recently uncaged the ultimate summer Titan team up, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire with ASL. To make this mega monster showdown even more epic, the movie features Kaylee Hottle, an up and coming Deaf actress and ASL interpretation done by Otis Jones. Jones was actually even coached by Leila Hanaumi, who did an incredible job with the ASL interpretation for Barbie. |

| On April 28, 2022, the British Sign Language (BSL) Act was passed by the UK Parliament, recognizing BSL as an indigenous language of Great Britain. To celebrate this momentous day, April 28 has since been named National BSL Day in the UK and this year’s celebration marks 2 years since the Act was passed!
On September 17, 2015, the Scottish Parliament passed the British Sign Language (Scotland) Bill 2015. On October 22, 2015, the Bill was enacted by Royal Assent to become the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015. The Act places a responsibility on listed public bodies to set out how they will promote the use and understanding of British Sign Language (BSL). Because of this Scotland has its own celebrations on September 17th to mark the passage of the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015 and October 22nd to mark the Royal Assent of that Act.
The Northern Ireland Assembly is currently working on its own legislation to cover the two sign languages used in Northern Ireland: BSL and ISL (Irish Sign Language). |

| This Pride month, we dedicated ourselves to learning sign languages, fostering a more inclusive world. Many of you joined us throughout June, embarking on a journey from your first day with Lingvano to achieving impressive 100-day streaks. Take pride in every sign you’ve learned.
We proudly partnered with @deafiesindrag, @malleyinlove, and @pinkmantaray, inviting you to join us in building bridges by learning sign languages and exploring Deaf culture during Pride. Our collaboration aimed to highlight the importance of understanding and celebrating diversity within the LGBTQIA2S+ community. By engaging with these inspiring creators, we provided a platform for learning not just the mechanics of sign language, but also the rich cultural nuances and stories behind it.
Additionally, we encouraged our community to learn LGBTQIA2S+ signs, understand the Pride flag’s significance, and discover the meaning of 2S in ASL through our social media channels. These educational initiatives were designed to deepen your understanding and appreciation of the diverse identities and experiences within the LGBTQIA2S+ and Deaf communities. However, learning and inclusion don’t stop when June ends. We invite you to continue following Lingvano on social media and maintain your daily streaks, ensuring that the journey towards inclusivity and understanding is ongoing. |
