| Halloween is here, and while we’re gearing up for all the treats, we’re also excited to look back on an inspiring Deaf Awareness Month in September. We celebrated with events and stories that brought our community together, honoring Deaf culture and promoting accessibility.

| In honor of Deaf Awareness Month, the Aquarium of Niagara dove into inclusivity by offering ASL interpretation for exhibits and programs. Deaf visitors got the full aquarium experience, exploring marine life with full access to all the facts and fun! The aquarium’s team noted this was all about creating a space where everyone can connect with the wonders of the ocean. Big splash for accessibility! |

| Hands Up for Sign Languages! ✋ |

| On September 22, we celebrated the International Day of Sign Languages! This special day highlights the powerful role sign languages play in Deaf communities around the world. It also honors the founding of the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) back in 1951, a huge milestone in the fight for Deaf rights and recognition. The celebration reminds us all to champion linguistic diversity and ensure accessibility for everyone who uses sign language. |

| We were so excited to see ASL take center stage at Coldplay’s recent concert in Athens! With a dedicated interpreter bringing the music to life, the performance was a heartfelt celebration for the Deaf community. It was truly inspiring to witness how ASL connected everyone in the crowd to the magic of the music. |

| Roaring for Deaf Culture 🦁 |

| Seneca Park Zoo hosted Deaf Culture Awareness Day with students from Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) leading the charge. They offered ASL interpretation and interactive activities for zoo visitors, making sure everyone could get involved.
It’s amazing to see how educational spaces like these are helping bridge gaps and build understanding between Deaf and hearing communities. |
